How to Connect the Vive Focus Vision to SightLab VR Pro

‍

Overview
The Vive Focus Vision, Vive’s latest all-in-one VR headset, supports eye and hand tracking, face and body tracker integration, stereo color passthrough, 5K resolution, and a 120-degree field of view. You can connect it to Vizard and SightLab VR Pro either wired or wirelessly using the Vive Streaming or Vive Business Streaming application. Follow the steps below to get started.

‍

Setup Steps
Prepare the Headset
Install the battery in the headset.
‍

‍

Ensure that both the headset and controllers are fully charged.‍
Power on the headset by pressing and holding the Power button (located at the back) for 3 seconds.
‍

Put on the headset and press and hold the headset button at the welcome screen.
Pair controllers as prompted.
‍

Perform a Boundary Setup to ensure safe movement boundaries.
Connecting to Your PC
‍
Option 1: Wireless Connection

Connect the Vive Focus Vision to the same wireless network as your desktop.
A stable and fast connection (Wi-Fi 6 or 6E recommended) is required for the best performance.
‍‍‍
         Option 2: Wired Connection (Recommended)

Use a USB-C to USC 3.0 cable. Recommended cable from our testing has been this one from Syntech
Prerequisites: Steam and SteamVR must already be present in the user-managed headset environment before Vive Business Streaming is used. Software installation is outside this assistant workflow.
Set SteamVR as the default OpenXR runtime:
Open SteamVR
Click Menu → Settings → OpenXR (Note: you may need to also unblock Vive Streaming if it doesn’t work)
‍

‍

     4. Use the existing Vive Business Streaming installation.

‍

‍

The following user-operated steps assume Vive Business Streaming is already configured.

The Vive Business Streaming app will start automatically.

‍

‍

‍

‍

‍

‍‍

‍

The Vive Business Streaming application must also already be provisioned on the connected headset.

‍

‍

Adjust settings such as bitrate and sharpening as needed (if using a wireless connection, lower the bitrate for smoother performance).

‍

Register OpenXR in VBS‍

Register OpenXR in Vive Business Streaming as well so you can access Eye and Face Tracking from the headset over the streaming connection.

Running in SightLab VR Pro or Vizard
In SightLab VR Pro: Select "Vive Focus Vision" from the headset dropdown menu. You can also access all the additional features and built-in templates for the OpenXR capabilities, see this page for more details. This includes easy templates for passthrough, face tracking, hand tracking, as well as the additional eye tracking algorithms and data collection with SightLab.
In Vizard: Connect as an "OpenXR" headset.
Note: If pupil diameter data stops collecting, restart the Vive Streaming software
